Back Home

Scotland sees the Aurora or Northern lights more often than many think, needing only a moderate activity level. Typical levels needed for a display over Perth are recorded as either a K-Index over 5 or a power of over 60GW on the NOAA space weather site.
March and September are the generally the better months for aurora.

The images here are from 12 August 2024 a fairly strong event at Kp=7, around 100GW.
